Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock (MoAL), Bhutan and Maejo University (MJU).

May 3, 2024,

Associate Professor Dr.Weerapon Thongma, Acting President of Maejo University, and Associate Professor Dr.Rapeephun Dangtungee, Dean of the International College, and staff from Maejo University and International College join the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock (MoAL), Bhutan and  Maejo University (MJU).  Through this cooperation, desire to achieve the following objectives under this MoU:

a) Enhance technical capacities, skills, and know-how of the secretariat services, technical departments, and its associated services and agencies, such as the National Biodiversity Center (NBC), at both the central and decentralized levels;

b) Strengthen and improve the management and administrative capacities, skills, and know-how of the Secretariat Services and Departments of MoAL at central and local levels;

c) Increase production and commercialization of selected agricultural commodities with marketing potentials; and

d) Improve the approach to knowledge management and training documentation in the MoAL.

The MOU was signed by Dasho Thinley Namgyel, Secretary of MoAL and Associate Professor Dr.Weerapon Thongma, Acting President of MJU

On Monday, August 26, 2024,                                                         

Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, welcomed Prof. Chun-Hsien Chang, Vice President of National Chiayi University, and his delegation. They visited Maejo University in Chiang Mai to discuss academic collaboration. Also in attendance were university executives and Associate Professor Dr. Rapeephun Dangtungee, Dean, Dr. Winitra Leelapattana, Associate Dean, Dr. Suthira Sitthikun, Assistant Dean, and Dr. Watcharanan Thongma, lecturer of Digital Economic and Management Innovation Program International College. They extended their welcome and engaged in discussions on academic cooperation with the NCYU executives. The delegation was given a tour of the MJU Cannabis Farm, the Natural Agriculture Research and Development Center, and the Orchid Tissue Culture Laboratory at the Faculty of Agricultural Production.

On 16th July 2024, Wu Maochun, as an international student from Maejo University in Thailand, was invited by the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and the Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange to share his competition experience. His presentation was highly praised by Chinese educational counsellors and other leaders in Thailand, fully demonstrating the innovative capabilities and international competitiveness of our students. 

Wu Maochun's outstanding performance and experience sharing in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition not only showcased the exceptional calibre of Maejo University students on the international stage but also highlighted the fruitful outcomes of our university's educational initiatives. His achievements provide valuable insights and inspiration for our students' innovation and entrepreneurship activities and reflect the close cooperation and significant accomplishments between our university and the Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange in PhD training.
